A Bond That Cannot Be Broken, Blind Spike Could Not Exist Without Max The Cat
Although most people view cats and dogs as mortal enemies, this adorable cat and dog pairing shows that anything is possible with a little cooperation.
Max, a great friend of Spike the blind dog since they were infants, offers Spike encouragement.

The animals were taken to a nearby animal shelter after their elderly owner died. Instead of being separated, the top decided to ask on Facebook if anyone was interested in adopting both of them.
Max and Spike’s friendship exemplifies what is possible for anyone considering adopting a blind animal. If they are patient and understanding, these animals can thrive and live happy lives.
When they first arrived at the shelter, the staff was unsure whether they should be separated.
“Spike is very reliant on Max,” Amy Kesting, marketing and communications manager at the San Diego Humane Society, said.

If they were to be split up, we would need to help Spike get used to living without Max.
The shelter requested help from the public because it was painful to think about separating these two.
We advertised them on our Facebook page, and within hours, we received over 100 applications, according to Kesting. “It was amazing to see how many people wanted to provide them with a home.”
These two furry friends quickly found themselves in a new home where they could still rely on each other for companionship due to the overwhelming response.

We’re so happy that Max and Spike found a new home together, and we hope that their story will encourage others to show compassion for animals in need.
